Title: Grown Ups 2
Director: Dennis Dugan
Release Date: July 12, 2013
Category: Comedy
Length: 101 minutes
Cast: Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James
Rated: PG-13

It is hard to say anything bad about Adam Sandler and his  crew but this film fell victim to the “forcing-a-sequel” syndrome. Chris Rock and David Spade played such infrequent parts that it seemed as if they were playing cameo roles, and Kevin James and Adam Sandler did not perform to their comedic abilities. The film was made up of a bunch of short, scattered storylines that never play out, leading one to believe that the simple film, in Grandma’s Boy fashion, could just be meant for a “not-quite-sober” audience. There was still a good amount of laughable moments, but despite the common perception that the four starring comedians would supply the laughs, it was ironically the smaller, unexpected appearances that were the most funny (including numerous SNL cast members, both old and new, and the “Happy Madison” clan). The movie was not a total flop thanks to these cameos and the perfectly intertwined scenes that made fun of “college bros”. Unfortunately, despite some good moments, the movie wound up being disappointing because when you buy tickets to see classic Adam Sandler humor, you don’t expect the majority of the best jokes to come from Taylor Lautner and Shaq.

REEL REVIEWS RATING: “Save $$… Wait for DVD”
